About the Role:

Technical Author/ Illustrator, reporting directly to the Technical Publications Lead. The role will place significant demands on their engineering knowledge and experience and require close liaison and co-operation with the system engineering and integration subject matter experts and the platform and domain expertise residing in the wider business. The candidate must be a team player who is prepared to lead from the front and work with a multi-national engineering team and the customer community. The individual will be required to work across geographical and cultural divides to draw together a comprehensive engineering capability that will derive a balanced system solution.

The successful candidate is expected to possess various Technical Publication Authoring and illustrating skill sets.

Typical responsibilities will include:

* General conduct of the Technical Publications Program and provision of guidance and support to Industry.
* Development of Technical Publications strategy and maintenance of associated Business Rules.
* Development and delivery of the databases.
* Provision of Supportability Data for development and production of deliverables for the SV Programme (e.g. Illustrations and Data Modules).
* Liaison with Customer and Industry, and representation of the ILS community at relevant meetings.
* Production of Progress Reports for SV ILS Manager.
* Attendance and participation at the LSA and Technical Publication Working Group Meetings.
* Analysis and QA of OEM ILS deliverables, including Data Modules, LSA data and LSAR exports.
* Support the delivery of the Technical Publication Programme(s) to schedule and budget.
* Responsibility for quality and general conduct of the Illustration effort.
* Delivery of training and support to Junior Technical Illustrators.
* Assumed functional line management responsibilities for Junior Technical Illustrator.

The sucesful candidate will have the below skills/experience:

* A thorough knowledge of Def Stan 00-60.
* A thorough knowledge of ASD S1000D.
* A thorough working knowledge of the EAGLE and CSDB software package
* A thorough working knowledge of PTC Arbortext IsoDraw CAD Process, Adobe Photoshop, plus overall familiarity with ISO, CGM, JPG, IGES and TIF formats within a S1000D environment.
* An understanding of ASD S2000M (including the NATO Codification process).
* A working knowledge of the Aspect.cs IP software package
* An understanding of current MoD (Tri-service) maintenance strategies.
* Willing to travel within the UK and possibly overseas.
* Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office
* Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.

Candidates must be willing to undergo the security vetting procedure.
